The Third Sunday of Lent - with insert!

.pdf and .doc views to the right >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

My Dear People and Friends of St. Bride,

The Sunday Offering Collection for February 21st  totaled $1386.33. This is twice the total of the week before. Thank you to those who share so faithfully each week!  Any increase from you would be appreciated!  Also, because of the cold weather attendance is down which has affected our totals.  Please try to make up for the weeks you may have missed.

If you have old envelopes that were not used these past few months would you please consider making up your Offerings in the next few weeks.  This will help us balance our Sunday Budget which is crucial to our annual report to the Archdiocese.  Any additional amount you can contribute to our Sunday Offering giving will be appreciated!

Thanks for listening and God Bless your ongoing generosity!

The Third Sunday of Lent

“He said to the gardener, ‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit

on this fig tree but have found none.’” (Luke 13:7)

Are you like the barren fig tree? How will you respond when God asks you what you have done with all the gifts He has given you? Remember, not only are we called to be generous,

we are called to develop and nurture our gifts and return with increase.

The Mass

We celebrate Mass or the Liturgy because Jesus commanded us to do this ~ on the night before His death he said: “And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me."  Luke 22:19

Jesus commanded us to continue to celebrate this meal – the Eucharist – our Mass. The Mass is our family meal which unites us to Christ and to the family of God. In the Mass we receive the Body and Blood of Christ. – His true presence. He nourishes, strengthens and heals us through this Holy Meal. Remember that God fed the Israelites manna in the desert – they needed physical nourishment and God provided. God has given us much more than physical nourishment in the Eucharist. He has given us food for our souls. Just as we cannot live without bodily nourishment, our souls cannot live without spiritual food.

The Eucharist is: -thanksgiving and praise to our Father in Heaven. Through the Eucharistic celebration we offer ourselves in thanksgiving to the Father as Jesus offered himself to the Father. We unite ourselves to Christ’s sacrifice.

Eucharist is: “the source and summit of the Christian life.”
