The Second Sunday of Lent
.pdf and .doc views linked at the right >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
My Dear People and Friends of St. Bride,
The Sunday Offering Collection for February 14th totaled $671.00. This is less than half of the week before. Thank you to those who share so faithfully each week! Any increase from you would be appreciated! Also, because of the cold weather attendance is down which has affected our totals. Please try to make up for the weeks you may have missed.
If you have old envelopes that were not used these past few months would you please consider making up your Offerings in the next few weeks. This will help us balance our Sunday Budget which is crucial to our annual report to the Archdiocese. Any additional amount you can contribute to our Sunday Offering giving will be appreciated!
Thanks for listening and God Bless your ongoing generosity!
2nd Sunday of Lent
“I am the Lord who brought you from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land as a possession.” (Genesis 15:7)
Just as the Lord gave Abraham, Moses and the Israelites a land to possess, He has also given each of us a home. Whether our home is grand or humble, it is a gift from God. Abraham prepared a great sacrifice to the Lord in gratitude for the home God gave him. How do we show our gratitude to God for the home He has given us? Do we make a sacrifice of any kind? Do we return any of our finances to God, investing equally in our eternal home just as we invest in our earthly home?
A Media Resource
The Archdiocese of Chicago has a website specifically for the Jubilee Year of Mercy. There you will find descriptions of special activities that will be happening around Chicagoland as the year unfolds. There are brief videos in which people short reflections on how they have experienced mercy. Every Monday a brief spiritual message about mercy is posted. And there is much more!
The address is: www.jubileemercy.org.
