St. Bride Property Damaged in Early Morning Accident

Autos hit fence and pillar....
Just before dawn - 4:45 am - on May 2, 2008, a south bound out of control vehicle on Coles Avenue struck two parked cars. An older model Cadillac Brougham hit and pushed a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix over 30 feet along the sidewalk. There were no skid marks so indications are the car was hit at about 60 miles an hour - on a side street! In the process a third vehicle, a Plymouth Van, was hit by the Grand Prix. The Cadillac and the Grand Prix jumped the sidewalk and smashed into the fence along the front of the Rectory, collapsing a brick pillar and mangling two sections of wrought iron fence ( installed around 1930).
The driver and passenger of the Cadillac fled the scene after removing the temporary license plate from the rear of the vehicle. They sustained some injuries, as there was blood around the area and on the sidewalk down the block. They have yet to be identified.
The cars were all removed within a couple hours and the area cleaned and secured. The Archdiocesean Insurance office has been notified and an estimate to restore the fence will be accepted shortly. St. Bride will be responsible for the $1000.00 deductible on the work as far as we know at this time! A similar accident happened about 5 years ago and the replacement of the brick pillar was over $5000.00.
We thank God no serious injuries occurred. Click below for more pictures!
